I'd be interested to know which GospeLink books people are most interested in converting to YanCEyWare format so I can do additional testing on these books...

www.gospelink.com/faq/titles.htmlHere are a few to test. I am sure once one volume is converted, the rest will be similar. -Discourses of Wilford Woodruff -Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 1-3 -History of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, vol. 1-7 -Journal of Discourses, vol. 1-26 Thanks.

YanceyLink 1.2 (automatically converts books from your GospeLink 2001 library to YanCEyWare books) is now available here: ***You must be a registered user of GospeLink 2001 to use this utility. Do not distribute e-books you create using this utility to other people who do not own the GospeLink 2001 library*** home.comcast.net/~erichca/YanceyLink1.2.zipSome huge improvement/bug fixes in this version--the main one being that previous versions were dropping random characters out of the text. 1.2 Changes/Features- Added support for cascading style sheets--this requires that you have the PocketPC 2003 OS as the PocketPC 2002 OS IE doesn't support styles. This effectively makes the Yanceyware books have the exact same formatting on your PocketPC as they have in the Windows version of GospeLink. - Since the YanCEyWare reader doesn't support linking style sheets, I insert into every page a style block with just the styles used in that page to save space. - You can edit the new styles.css file to change the way the book is converted--for example, you can change the fonts for the chapter headings or the fonts for quoted scriptures. There are over 50 styles available that you can tweak to create exactly the look you want for your generated book. - Fixed an issue with the encoding I was using--this will fix some errors that resulted in characters getting omitted and two words getting merged together. This utility will create Yanceyware EBooks from any book in your Gospelink library. The books get created in the c:\books directory for now. You then copy the directory created for the ebook out of the c:\books directory to your YanceyWare library directory. For example, after converting Articles of Faith, a folder called "ArticlesofFai" is created in the c:\books directory. Copy that folder to your YanCEyWare reader library directory on your pocket PC (the direcotry where your existing .ybk files are located). Then, launch the YanCEyWare reader on your PocketPC, and from the "Hammer" menu choose "Refresh Library" to rebuild the index. Your new books should be located at the bottom of the main index. this utility requires that the latest version of the .NET runtime be installed on your machine--.NET is available through the windows update site: ( www.windowsupdate.com). GospeLink 2001 must be running on your machine before you launch this utility. I recommend you do the full installation of GospelLink and copy all the GospelLink files to your hard drive rather than running from CD. I have not tested or provided any functionality for GospeLink running from CD. It is practically impossible to test all 1240 YanCEyWare books that can be produced from GospeLink using this utility. If you find something that you want improved or formatting or scripture linking issues in a particular book, please send mail to erihca@hotmail.com and I'll try to add it to the next version. Some things that definitely do not work: 1-I don't try to create image directories as part of the books.

Here's a thought for the next version --
Strip out the "next" text and tag at the end of many of the books. Its redundant, since the reader already has this function, and a waste of space. Not a big deal for most titles, but with the EOM, that 1643 "nexts" -- almost a title in itself!

I noticed when I was looking through Mormon Doctine, the links for "See 'TOPIC'" are not showing up correctly. Instead I see alot of comments. <! -- Is this something that can be fixed?

Yeah--I like the idea of killing the next tag. It is also confusing because when you tap it, it pops up the popup window. I just added that feature.
Konglong--I'm not seeing the behavior you describewith version 1.2 and the PocketPC 2003 OS. Maybe this only repros in PocketPC 2002.
Also the "see Topic" things aren't links--if you go look at them in GospeLink, you'll see they aren't hyperlinked. YanceyLink doesn't add any hyperlinking beyond what is already in the GospeLink books.

Yes, look's like these will have to be put in manually. The post ahead was mentioning the code, not the viewable content.
Hmmm.....not sure it is worth it adding in this info manually. Unless of course there are a bunch of people willing to help out. It would require searching the numbered HTML files for the right file. Then adding that info to the linked html.

YanceyLink 1.3 (automatically converts books from your GospeLink 2001 library to YanCEyWare YBK books) is now available here: ***You must be a registered user of GospeLink 2001 to use this utility. Do not distribute e-books you create using this utility to other people who do not own the GospeLink 2001 library*** home.comcast.net/~erichca/YanceyLink1.3.zipLet's face it--life is too short to copy hundreds of HTML files over to your library folder and memory is too expensive. This version of YanceyLink creates compressed YBK files. For reference, Jesus the Christ is now a single 753K YBK file instead of 2.52 MB scattered over 45 HTML files. 1.3 Changes/Features - YBK Support - Strips out next tag at bottom of each book as it was redundant. 1.2 Changes/Features - Added support for cascading style sheets--this requires that you have the PocketPC 2003 OS as the PocketPC 2002 OS IE doesn't support styles. I've had a couple people ask me for information about the YBK format or for my code that creates YBK files.
As I've looked into the matter and looked back on some posts, it seems that Bryce Yancey doesn't want the YBK format to be made public (Bryce didn't help me in any way to generate the YBK files, I just looked at YBK files in a hex editor and figured it out). I feel that since the whole premise of YanceyLink is that it creates a fixed set of books (the 1240 GospeLink books) for your own *personal* use that should never be shared with anyone else, that it should be OK to generate YBK files for this case--it certainly doesn't make sense for every individual to go to Bryce to ask him to compress their private GospeLink generated books.
Also, YanceyLink really stinks IMHO if it doesn't generate YBK files--transferring 1000 html files to your pocket pc so you can have one book there is no fun at all. So hopefully Bryce will be cool with this feature existing in YanceyLink. Also, I have no plans to ever charge for YanceyLink. YanceyLink is freeware--I wrote it because I wanted to get my money's worth out of my GospeLink library that I paid 60$ for.
However, to defer to Bryce's wishes, I'm not going to release my code that creates YBK files for non YanceyLink use or discuss anything I know about the YBK format unless Bryce gives a go ahead.

In looking at the book "We Believe" by Rulon T. Burton, I have been noticed some scripture link errors. The viewable text:
Alma 32:13-16
but the source text link is:
<a class="scrip" href="BoM/Alma/VERSE.html#13:14:15:16">Alma 32:13-16 </a>
What does the original Gospelink code look like for scriptures before converted with YanCEylink?
In this book, is there any way to divide up the chapters by looking for the Chapter style? Trying to number the html files similar to how the book is set up. ie. 001-898
I noticed the DIV tags. ie. <div class=""><p> Can we remove the DIV, and you the class attrib with the <P> tags? <P class="">
Thanks...Your program will save us a lot of time.

Yeah--I'm waiting for the next part of your tutorial--the "remove useless code" part to go live. I'm not an HTML guru--YanceyLink strips out a lot already, but I'm not sure what more I can strip. Is there a thread somewhere that discusses everything that should be stripped, and maybe a discussion of why there is no data/content/formatting loss when it gets stripped?

YanceyLink 1.4 is now available. I apologize for the frequent releases--but everyone keeps finding good bugs. home.comcast.net/~erichca/YanceyLink1.4.zip1.4 - Produces a better index page, 1.3 was dropping characters. - Uses bulleting on the index to make it look nicer. - Fixes scripture link creation problem pointed out by KongLong in We Believe. - Adds support for creating Yanceyware e-books from GospeLink Periodicals--there are now 1551 books it can create. - Adds a check box that will let you keep the source files in case you want to edit them and copy them to your PDA instead of the generated YBK.

Re KongLong's request in this thread... If I remove the div tags and the "class" attributes, then the formatting functionality via style sheets doesn't work.
The GospeLink books are formatted via style sheets. I can also apply the same formatting styles via style sheets in the created books (although this feature requires the Pocket PC 2003 OS with the new Pocket IE that supports style sheets).
So the short answer is I don't plan to remove the div and class stuff.

The problem I am seeing it a DIV and P tag right next to each other.
<p><div class="RightJust">
This could be solved with the already P tag. This extra code removed would save space. The above tag could say:
<p class="RightJust">
And it would work just the same. Also, throughout the books I am not seeing the closing tag for P. ie. </P>
